I know it is intended to be 'tongue in cheek' but the last item "i'm a nice guy" just grates on me....
"Nice" isn't the same as good, honest or confident - and they are things that people are more interested in seeing (in actions, in writing). "Nice" has connotations of "I'm trying to please you and not rock the boat". Just my 2c.
'nice'
It is quite slimy, isn't it? Has the faint whiff of brownnosing and scraping about it.
If I was really pitching, I'd say something along the lines of 'I am a confident, decent young man who enjoys helping people and is largely free of mental illness and addictions. If you ignore depression. And my caffeine habit. And sushi.'
It's really all about trying to make the world a better place and if Apple wants to fly me to SF for a week, that's just gravy.
Interesting range of responses to this piece. I've enjoyed hearing them and have learned a bit.
I just dislike the word, there are so many other, less-tainted words!
liked it otherwise though - when you get some of the free stuff, can T & I share in your spoils???
Of course, I wouldn't want to test out a video game without Tristan by my side and I know you'd love a steady stream of films and books to 'review'.
Moist.
Now there is a word that add's class to any and all conversations. | |
